Guide Updating

MAST Guide Updating Procedure (subject to change)

• All pages that are currently tagged as guide should at least be looked at by the team for review
• The Guide Hub itself needs an overhaul
• Site Rules needs an overhaul, which will be primarily handled by Taylor and the other members of disc present on MAST, such as Dexanote
• Small scale MAST edits to guides should be noted as such in the edit comments but otherwise I think they're fine to be left up to the team e.g. things like altering wordings in a guide to reflect the current rules or procedures
• Large scale or complete rewrites are to be put on 05command with a 1 week long timer for all staff members to provide input on before implementation. Adcap will also be notified whenever these threads go up.

The following is the procedure that MAST must follow to assume stewardship over an article that is not tagged as guide.

For any member of staff

• Add the page to this sandbox and explicitly state that the page is not to be touched.
• Contact the MAST Guide Update team lead(s) (presently TheMightyMcB).

The following is the procedure for the MAST Guide Update team leads after a staffer has done the above.

• Contact the captain (presently DrBleep) and vice-captains (presently aismallard and Yossipossi) of MAST and inform them of the situation to determine if the page requires MAST attention.
• Contact the captain of the technical team (presently DrMagnus) and explain why the page in question should be tagged as guide.
• Contact the captain of the rewrite team (presently Modern_Erasmus) and explain the above situation in full.
• Send PMs to the author(s) of the page in question requesting the tag change
  • If they accept, change the tags and assume MAST stewardship of the page.
  • If they do not reply within one week, inform Modern_Erasmus and change the tags to assume MAST stewardship of the page.
  • If they decline, create an alternative page that serves an identical function to the original, post and tag the page as guide, credit the author(s) of the original page in the attribution metadata, and change the guide hub to link the new guide instead of the original essay.
