Currently, Junior Staff exist in two places on O5, that being the Master Staff Roster and the various team hubs. The former has all JS lumped at the bottom, and although not a bad way to check on JS and their assorted teams, it admittedly feels strange that for such a large division of staff, there's no dedicated page for documenting them.
Current Idea
The proposed Junior Staff Roster would function very similarly to the current Active Staff Roster. All JS would be listed, presumably alphabetically, along with their team(s) and any other relevant information.
For instance, a change was recently made to the Master Staff Roster wherein the recruitment dates for all current JS were recorded. This was a good initiative, but I feel this information isn't entirely useful on a page like the Master, also considering the fact that the dates of promotion for active staff aren't listed like they are on the Active Staff Roster. However, this information would be a great addition to a potential JS roster.
Other info additions
- Captains: Very often, JS need to have their captain(s) contacted far more than an active staff member. This can be for various reasons, be it for a complaint, and endorsement, etc. It might be good to have these captains available at a glance, though a concern would be unnecessary bloat.
- Timezones: Similar to the other rosters, we can have the timezones of JS listed, which can be useful for a multitude of reasons. The main concern here is a larger workload for MAST in needing to contact every newly recruited JS, which can be inefficient given the far more transitive nature of JS recruitment. (That being said, I've never seen why we can't let them put it in themselves.)
- Subteams: This is something I wouldn't mind seeing on some of the other rosters as well. If a JS is on a team with multiple subteams (i.e. MAST, CO, IO), there could be some sort of footnote (or something fancier with some formatting magic, i dunno) that lists the subteams with a hover. Example:
User Teams blah blah blah Naveil
Forum Crit, MAST1 blah blah blah who is this idiot they're not even js
The downside to this is that it'll look really ugly at the bottom the page, which is, admittedly, a big turn off for me personally. There might be some sort of fix I'm not smart enough to think of, so this can remain on the backburner.
- Contact Info: Similar setup to what we have on the Master Roster. Fairly self explanatory, with similar concerns to timezones and a similar possible solution.
